Believed to have originated in Ceylon, this exotic fruit
has been cultivated in southeast Asia for many centuries. With a waxy
yellow-green skin, the fruit is sweet-tart in flavor and when sliced in
cross-section produces a pleasing star shape. Ripe fruit can be eaten
out-of-hand, served in salads, or used as a garnish.
Tavilla imports starfruit from Taiwan year round,
though climatic conditions often create gaps in availability.
